This is my second time as a parent and quite frankly I had a lot of apprehension. Its such an emotional and difficult journey being a parent to a newborn again. You don’t realize how much the lack of sleep affects you. You are constantly worrying that you are going to do everything wrong and ultimately hurt your…
I dyed the drawers of my dresser (pic heavy)! Behold! It really was an adventure, and I’ve decided that I love dyeing wood. It’s so forgiving; I found it much easier to use than stain, 10/10 would recommend.
Apps don’t get simpler than this one. It’s called just about what it is, Simple Sticky Note Widget.
It has no features but the widget. To make a note, you add a widget to your home screen. To make another, you add another.
Apparently, in a further attempt to monetize ad revenue, Facebook is slowly implementing a rollout of mid-video ads. Now, 15 seconds or so +/- into whatever video you’re watching will give you an inserted ad. Not everyone at this point is seeing them, but you will eventually. You will have no choice but to watch the…
Yep, it’s that time of year again! Open Thread with a side of Girl Scout Cookies is the best open thread. Brought to you today by the letters G, S, and the lovely folks of Lifehacker.
In which I do what I’m told and test the colors.
Some people are just “party animals.” They love gathering people together for no other reason than it’s a Wednesday (better known as “hump day”), its Groundhog Day, or it’s Mozart’s birthday. Any excuse will do.
How many times have you read a blog post or heard a Podast or perused a magazine article with this message: “Save for your retiremient. Oh, but if you retire early there’s no way you can spend money from your retirement accounts until the year you reach age 59 1/2. Because if you do, you’ll pay penalties to the…
Good morning, Hackateers! Welcome to another weekly installment of the open thread, brought to you by the wonderful place called Lifehacker.
Where o where’s the open thread?
I have some things that must be said.
Nougat is at last OTA-ing on my Axon 7. I shouldn’t really say anything until after the reboot, but I’m slightly excited.
My lawn was looking pretty good save ONE SPOT. The septic tank lid. And it’s so obviously there in the middle of my yard as you walk up to my front door. I spray painted it green which didn’t work well. I even tried to scatter some leaves. Like a comb-over.
I’m pretty sure I’ve posted this in the past. Just that I don’t know what search terms to use in order to get Google to dig it up.
This involves the Windows 7 Registry editor and its list of Favorites that you can use to bookmark settings that you might want to revisit. I do that a lot.
You can see the list with the key…
As some of you may have seen, I’m working on refinishing a dresser. I’ve gotten the paint and original finish stripped off, all of the big, flat surfaces have been rough sanded down and, while most of the wood looks nice and clean (and has nice grain, and even some curly figure), I have unearthed some staining…
Hi GT and friends! *waves enthusiastically* Please, pull up a chair and join me while I make a sad dresser happy again. Maybe, I hope! (pic heavy)
Happy Friday and welcome to Open Thread, brought to you by those furry little critters at Hackerspace, where we talk about life and all the little hacks that go with it.
January is almost over. Have you been sticking to your New Year’s resolutions?
I brew beer. Not well, I don’t claim to be a master brewer. However I do it well enough to drink it and my friends think so too. I used to bottle my beer but found kegging to be better. WHY?
Well- bottling has it’s benefits. Portability for one.....that’s about it. So, actually bottling has it’s BENEFIT. Along…
