I’ve looked through forums on various topics, mostly to do with my troubles on Windows, sometimes even other people’s, just to see if they turned up a solution that’s related to some problem I have.

I noticed in some places that when people were having issues with backing up, system restore, making repair disks, Windows backups, transfering files etc, only four services were being named as things to check to make sure they were on automatic and running.

It looks like there are actually 5 services that need to be enabled,here at least:

Block Level Backup Engine
Microsoft Software Shadow Copy
Virtual Disk
Volume Shadow Copy
Windows Backup

^^ That first one was likely to get overlooked. If you have problems in this area of system maintenance, check the above, see if there all set to automatic and started.
