Hello! Welcome to the Friday open thread, or as it's also called, Ask Omnichad a Question.
If you're a regular reader of Lifehacker, you already know that certain Gawker sites have been the target of attacks through the commenting system. As a result, the system is going to go through some changes. If you've been around for a while, you no doubt remember your comments being held in limbo until someone with authority starred your comment (see #8 here). Unfortunately, we'll soon be returning to that system for the time being. This is not a Hackerspace decision, by the way: it affects all Gawker blogs, from Lifehacker to the smallest sub-blogs run by users.
Naturally, this won't be happy news to many of you, especially those who weren't around long enough under the old system to be "followed" by Hackerspace (comments from followed members are automatically approved). If you post on this thread today and your comment is grayed out, I'll make sure it appears as long as it's a question or on-topic. If your comment is not grayed out, then either the restriction isn't in place yet or you're already being followed by Hackerspace. I'll try to follow as many familiar faces as I can. If you're a Hackerspace author, please do the same as the community is large enough that I won't recognize everyone.
