I'm so glad I opted out of watching the Discovery channel some years ago, around about the time they showed an eclipse of the sun "live", but because of some technician's 'error' (probably deliberate) the whole shebang was on Discovery three minutes or so before it actually happened in the real world because they used a recording of a previous eclipse. This is where they're at nowadays - http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/science-sushi/…

I did actually sit through most of this and felt distinctly uncomfortable about the content without knowing why.

Note - Discover magazine as far as I can ascertain is not affiliated with the Discovery channel - just an unfortunate coincidence in naming.
