Let's do a different, slightly more focused take on the open thread today: if you work – or have worked – in sales, I want to hear from you! How did you master this skill that I am utterly lacking in? How can I practice every day to improve at this?
That's because this summer I have a part-time job selling legit fine-art photography prints in the touristy part of town. I get minimum wage plus commissions. It helps that I'm passionate about the product (photography) and happy to talk at length about it, but except for some bikes I've fixed up, I've never formally sold anything in my life.
So have at it in the comments below: how did you master this dark art and how can I master this essential life skill?
