This edit normally goes at the end but I thought it might be a better idea to put it here, save people some reading.

The problem was quickly and slickly solved when my friend brought over her MIL’s mp3 player, a little Hipstreet product, something with a model name “hs-2410-8gb”.

I thought I’d have to deal with an iPhone at some point along the way, or my friend would. Seems to have been a misunderstanding on my part. But anyway...

Connecting that device was nothing. It was like plugging a thumb drive into my comp and copying the music over. No fuss. No iPhone in the mix! Just copy/paste/done. : )

Hi all! I’m having a problem that is new to me but old to other people for sure. I have some mp3s that I want to copy over from my Win7 comp to a friend’s iphone.

It has a lot more snags than I imagined, even after reading about it for years. I could install iTunes (I guess) and then connect my friend’s phone to the computer and run iTunes ,,,, but from what I read, I risk overwriting the friend’s library with whatever itunes thinks is *my* library.

There are other methods I’ve been reading about. You all know what they are.... complicated.

Is there a way to just copy some tunes from my PC to the friend’s iPhone, w/o misery? Is there a free way. < I almost typed “freeway”.

I don’t want a hassle. I just want to copy some tunes over to the friend’s phone. This would be 98987ing child’s play if the friend owned an Android device. But I am kindof slackjaw’d over how muddled a mess it can be, even *if* I had iTunes for Windows installed. I don’t want to risk ruining my friend’s tune collection by overwriting it with my own stuff.

All I could think while I was doing my searching, was that I just wanted to copy some *097ing music files. I’ve read about the process for rooting one’s Android phone or jailbreaking an iThing. Those seem to be kindergarten compared to what you have to go through if you just want to copy tunes over with nothing more than the phone and a cable.

Are there options that won’t make me fume and rage too much more than I already have?

If I can’t do this, I’m going to have to just put the tunes on an optical disk or thumb drive and tell my friend to copy *those* to their computer and then send them over to the iPhone. It’s all I can think of.

Is that the size of it?

eta. I forgot to say thanks. That’s what this problem has done to me, made me rude. Sorry.
