Whether you are just starting to blog, or you have written hundreds of posts, coming up with new ideas for a blog post can be challenging. Quality blog post ideas, to be precise.
And it doesn't have to be that way.
In this short tutorial, I’ll show you how to get blog post ideas for a whole year (assuming you post once per week), that you’ll “steal” from a great blogger, Neil Patel.
I put “steal” under quotation marks because we’re not actually stealing anything from Neil’s blog, QuickSprout.com. We’ll just use his most popular posts, and generate ideas from them.
So, let’s get started.
You’ll see a list of most shared posts from Quick Sprout. Unfortunately, if you are a free user, you can see only 4 posts. And if you decide to become paid user, you’ll have much detailed stats. For now, free account will do the work.
Now that you have a list of most shared posts, open new tab in your browser, and open Google Keyword Planner Tool. It should be connected with your Gmail/Google account, so you don’t need to make new account.
Once logged in, click “Search for new keyword and ad group ideas.”
This area will expand, and you should enter the first URL of the blog post in “Your landing page” area. And click Get ideas.
You’ll now see the list of keywords extracted/associated with the post/page. By default, they are separated into groups. To see the keywords, just click Keyword ideas.
And here’s my little trick. By default, the keywords are sorted by relevancy. But, since all these keywords have something to do with the content on the post/page, almost all keywords are relevant. So, you can sort them by some other parameter.
Sort them by Suggested bid! This number represents the Google’s estimate of how much should you pay per click for that keyword, in order to show your ad at the top.
Usually, current advertisers are already paying near to that amount.
You know what that means?
That means that these keywords convert like crazy, or they wouldn't pay so much for them.
And that means that these keywords are potentially amazing blog posts.
Now, all you have to do is to go through each keyword and search for hidden gems.
Once you finish one URL, copy another, and repeat the process.
And again. And again. And again. And as long as want, or until you are satisfied with the number of blog post ideas.
But, does this really work?
Following this same exact process, here are some of the blog post ideas I extracted. (There are more than 50, extracted in just 2–3 hours.)
