Running Older Programs in Windows 10

I’ve been having different sorts of problems with 32bit programs on Win10, especially those that never even got updates that took Win7 into account. Some of them are *old*. One such is called ReadPleasePlus2003. Old. But I need it. I’ve invested YEARS teaching it how to pronounce words.

But to the point. I right-clicked its .exe, selected Properties, then the compatibility tab, and told ReadPlease to party like it was Windows XP SP3. Also, I checked off the box to run the software as an administrator.

That seems to have settled things down. The same approach has helped for compiled Autohotkey scripts as well. In that case, I run them in Windows 7 compatibility mode, as admin. Hope this helps someone else.
